Does the Atkins diet make intuitive sense?

Atkins seems counter-intuitive, does it not? All of our lives we hear about how you should be eating a balanced diet, atkins is not this. If you think about what primitive man’s diet was then it starts to make sense. Processed foods (ie bread) didn’t come around until the agricultural revolution, and was made to so the food didn’t spoil. So man’s necessity made bread and these high carb foods. It is only until now that people are changing to this low carb diet to lose weight.

What is the atkins diet? Its all about eating lots of protein, fat and not much else. How could someone think that this is a good idea? Many people do think that all the rules about eating should be changed.

The number of atkins diet recipes is going through the roof. I have a feeling that atkins restaurants are going to start popping up. If they haven’t already…first we will see a menu items that are friendly for the diet, then the entire cafe will support it.

If atkins is the future, then why did it take so long, why are we just getting to this. Other food technologies took even longer, it wasn’t until about 2500 years ago that someone decided that was a good idea to put a piece of meat between two pieces of bread to make a sandwich.

Is aktins the future and healthy? If indeed it does work (for the short run), can the human body sustain on thsi type of diet for a lifetime? Will we start feeding babies a more atkins friendly diet from birth?
